Thoughts on Autism

We all have heard that autism is on the rise, yet there is still no theory as to the cause.

Last week on the Today Show, I heard Dr. Nancy Lieberman talk about all the parents who are angry at doctors because no research has yet to link autism and vaccinations. She stated that even with the removal of merury from the vaccines, the incidence of autism has not decreased.

However, she did mention a very interesting study that found an increase in autism in rainy climates. What does that suggest? To me it suggests that kids are spending more time indoors in rainy climates.

It also suggests to me that more time spent indoors means more time exposed to chemicals in the home. Where are these chemicals? All over the place. In carpet, furniture, cleaning products and pest control products. Think about all the chemicals in school buildings that are in the classrooms in the form of janitorial products and synthetic furnishings.

Why are kids affected by these chemicals more than adults? First, kids spend most of their time closer to the chemicals, i.e., on the floor. Second, kids have a higher metabolism than adults - therefore the chemicals enter their bloodstream quickly. Third, they have less blood volume than adults, therefore the chemicals are more concentrated in their blood.

These chemicals can harm the nervous system (that's how many pest control products work) and affect the brain. Is that what we want for our kids?

What can we do to prevent our kids from chemical exposure? One thing is to use green cleaning products that are chemical free.

Over thirty years ago, I became interested in finding chemical-free household products. Way back then, people were becoming concerned about all the pollution in the air and I was reading articles about the chemicals that we bring into the home.

Hi All,



Wow - what a week. The country almost went to Hell in a handbasket and I'm spending $45,000 for a new car!! Life on the edge is exciting!!



Last Friday I finalized all the paperwork for the car loan and got an interest rate of 6.14. Hopefully, that is good. Of course, they talked me into the extended warranty, the protective coating and the road hazzard insurance against all body and tire damage incurred in normal use of the car.



Tuesday I went to pick up the car and spent 2 hours with the salesperson setting all the options like which doors open first, interior lighting settings, seat position, on and on. And, of course, as I drove away it started to pour. But -thanks to the protective coating, the car dried off without a streak or spot.



I have been able to go through the XM stations and found some amazing stuff like Broadway show tunes, Oprah, old radio shows and that's just the beginning.



So by now you can tell I'm excited about my new car.



I also know that my Shaklee business will pay for this car. For starters, it is tax deductible because I have a home-based business.



And the new anti-aging product, VIVIX, is in such demand because of the wonderful results people are getting, that I am confident my income will increase significantly.

New Car

Last night was very exciting. I went to the Acura dealership to attend a party to introduce the 2009 Acura TL. I had already ordered one a few weeks before and I was totally surprised to find that the car on the showroom floor with a cover over it was MY NEW CAR!!

I was treated like a celebrity because I was the first person to purchase a 2009 TL. They even locked the car so no one but me could sit in it.

I am now the first person in the Virginia Beach area to be driving a 2009 Acura TL. The car is georgeous with a very futureist look. I brought home the manual to read about all the new high tech stuff. I will not pick up the car until Monday after they add side molding to the doors and mud deflectors.

So, I am selling my current 2003 TL, which has been a GREAT car. I am almost sad to let it go.

If you know anyone who is looking for a car, the price is $9,500. It is fully loaded with navation system. I have been the only owner and have done all the maintenance including changing the oil every 3,000 miles. The car has 90,000 miles and the service people at Acura said it will last another 100,000 miles if the timing belt is changed at 105,000 miles.

We need the rain

Sept. 25, 2008

Pretty nasty out there today. But - we need the rain. Great day to stay home and look at the rain while we are snug and comfortable. However, I have 4 appointments today, so out I go.

Pitty the homeless on a day like today. I have worked at homeless temporary shelters in the winter and it amazes me that a lot of homeless people are not stupid and/or on drugs. They are just down on their luck. Many of them are employed, but can't save enough to get off the streets.

So they just go on, day after day, doing the best they can. Aren't we lucky that we have food and shelter. There should be a way to help those in need and make sure they have a roof over their head and a way to stay healthy.

What is it that people say they wish for? Health is right up there on the list. Don't you agree?
